There isn’t much one can say about the Iguazu Falls other than that they are damn impressive! I haven’t been to any other of the ‘famous’ waterfalls of the world, but if they are anything like this than I would definitely visit those too if I could! There is something about the volume of water, the roaring sound of the overflow, and the beautiful subtropical jungle scenes that made Iguazu a special place on our group’s itinerary. I am so glad we added this!
We explored the Argentine side (Brazil were charging huge visa fees to Americans back then which wasn’t worth my friends paying for just 1 or 2 days here). The Argentine side was awesome, with upper decks to walk around the tree canopies and see the ‘top’ of the falls. There were also lower paths to see them from ground level. We also got to go on a jet boat ride, which was cool, and secretly kind of terrifying. The spray of the falls meant everything was placed into waterproof sacks (provided), so no photos of this bit!
The highlight for me, apart from the amazing butterflies and their myriad of colors, was seeing the Devils Throat (Garganta del Diablo). A 1km walk path brings you to the edge of this monstrous fall, the highest and deepest in the park. At 82 metres and shaped as a U, you won’t even hear each other talking because the amount of water that flows over is just crazy!
Iguazu is a definite must stop on any South American tour. Yes it costs a bit to get out here (plane the best bet) but it is worth every penny. Definitely a place to remember!

Those falls are spectacular! We have nothing like that here in Queensland. The butterfly is amazing too. Great pics!
Thanks Jane! Nothing like this in Perth either trust me!
Stunning!
We thought Iguazu was amazing also! Not sure if you spent the night but if so, did you see monkeys climbing all over your hotel walls and roof? The falls and butterflies were the #1 attraction, but we sure loved seeing those little monkeys trying to get into our patio door!
We stayed 2 nights, and yes, it was a monkey invasion! After being nearly attacked by monkeys in gibraltar i stayed well away from them, and didnt even want to writr about them. Scary memories! Lol
